I spent some time last week getting over allergies before shooting the video for my “raffle”. After a few shoots and changing of clothing and props and a couple of hours of editing, I uploaded to youtube and awaited for the posting confirmation. Instead I get a message that the video cannot be uploaded because it was corrupted. Not going to go into the whole story of it so I ended up sending a series of email notifications to reveal the winner of the raffle.
Technology rocks but sometimes you just want to find a hill and watch it roll to the ground.

50 miles down!

I finally completed my 50 miles this past weekend. Unlike Robert, I don’t have any video evidence, but if you ask Laura she will likely confirm that for the past few weeks we went on a lonnnnnnng walk, before we went to the swings. It was good thinking time for me, and I often reflected on Jim and how proud he would be of our efforts and how we continue to do great things as a department. I am very excited to hear about the development of the teen space at Dallas Life – it has been a great project to be involved with and I am sure will be much used and enjoyed.

Pizza Luncheon – Round Two!

Again today Jane, Helen, Diane and I hosted a fundraiser pizza lunch. We were very happy to have Linda here to join us this week too.

People are very enthusiastic over the gooey, high fat, delicious Buffalo Chicken pizza from Stella’s here in Watertown, and we supplemented with salad, brownies and beverages. A lunch you can’t buy anywhere else for $5.00!

Our final tally is around $250. and we are considering yet another lunch, since this is a quick and easy way for us to collect contributions.

My Fundraiser Idea

It took me a while to get registered and going but here I am now. Here is the approach that I am using:

First I sent the information about the fundraising effort to close friends and families. A majority of them are on Facebook so I took a shot using their Note option since I already post a daily note on there. That was done a couple of times during the first two weeks. Now comes my phase two…..(cue “tada” music).

Next week I am inviting people to make a contribution of at least $10 towards the fundraiser. Everyone that makes a contribution will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a gift card to Chili’s or a place of their choice (this will be the second gift card raffle). Anyone that has already made a contribution will be automatically entered if they send me an email letting me know that they already contributed. I am not asking for dollar amount just confirmation. On Friday, with my skills willing, I am going to record the picking of the names and send the announcement via Youtube video. Again this is the plan and you know that plans do not always work as intended, but I want to make it a little fun via the use of these resources we have through technology.

Just received an update on our fundraising…we are now at $1435.00! April said that was an impressive start for week one, and who wouldn’t agree? Thanks everyone for all your efforts and outreach to family, colleagues and friends!

We had a great time at our home office fundraiser, and so far, over $263 (and still counting – we left some desserts out on the honor system). We will definitely do this again and hopefully do just as well!

We should hear very soon about the total contributed so far! I am receiving great reports of very positive responses to the Adopt a Bright Space Project! Keep a watchful eye and watch the funds grow!

Home office pizza fundraiser

We are about to host the first of two $5 pizza lunches here at the home office. We sent the invitation out an hour ago and already have 50 people who attending! We will have pizza, soda and a dessert for the $5 donation – a great deal for everyone!
